This 24-hour programme covers topics traversing the Data and Digital Economy landscape, where participants can look forward to expert instruction by respected practitioners, including lawyers and inhouse counsel, in the field. By the end of the programme, they can expect to become familiar with or have greater understanding of this expansive practice area.
As this is not a basic course, participants should have at least 5 years of Data and Digital Economy Law/TMT practice experience. Non-legal professionals from the tech industry may also register but they should possess foundational knowledge in this area of law. Participants are expected to be familiar with the basic concepts including governing laws and regulations.

Jeth Lee
Jeth Lee is Microsoft’s Regional Legal Director for the Asia-Pacific, supporting the organisation’s cloud and AI infrastructure in the region. He provides overall counsel on legal, public policy and regulatory issues, and is passionate about fostering a trusted and resilient digital ecosystem.
Prior to his current role, Jeth served as Microsoft Singapore’s Chief Legal Officer and headed legal and regulatory affairs for Southeast Asia. Jeth also spent a decade in leadership roles at the Singapore Exchange, where he served as the group’s Head of Compliance and Lead Counsel. Earlier in his career, he practised securities law at Allen & Gledhill, a leading Singapore law firm.
Jeth read law at the National University of Singapore, where he was chief editor of the law review. He holds a master’s degree in corporate law from New York University, and is qualified as an advocate and solicitor. |

Associate Professor Warren B Chik
Warren Chik is an Associate Professor with the Yong Pung How School of Law at Singapore Management University. He is also the Deputy Director of the Centre for Artificial Intelligence and Data Governance. Warren researches, writes and teaches primarily in the areas of infocomm technology law, Internet intermediaries law, privacy and data protection. He also leads the business law module for the University.
He graduated from NUS Law School in 1996 and has Masters degrees from UCL (UK) and Tulane (US) with specialisations in comparative and international law. Warren practiced in criminal and international law with the AGC criminal and international divisions before joining Academia.
He also passed the bar in Singapore, the UK and New York. Warren is the co-author of Information and Communications Technology Law in Singapore (Academy Publishing, 2020) which is the first textbook on the subject in Singapore and has published many articles in the area in reputable local and international journals including the Singapore Academy of Law Journal, Computer Law & Security Review and the International Journal of Law & Technology. |

Mr Tan Wee Meng
A seasoned practitioner with more than 20 years of experience, Wee Meng’s practice focuses on key clients in the media and telecommunications, energy and infrastructure industries as well as government and PPP projects. He is Head of Telecommunications and a Partner in the Energy, Infrastructure and Projects Practice, and works on projects throughout the region.

Dr Stanley Lai SC
Dr Stanley Lai, SC is the Head of Allen & Gledhill LLP’s Intellectual Property Practice and Co-Head of the firm’s Cybersecurity & Data Protection Practice.
Stanley specialises in all forms of IP litigation and information technology disputes, and is also a commercial/chancery litigator. Stanley is currently the Chairman of the Intellectual Property Office of Singapore. He is also a member of the Singapore International Arbitration Centre IP Panel and Singapore Copyright Tribunal. He has published extensively on IP and information technology law, including the monograph, “The Copyright Protection of Computer Software in the United Kingdom”. Stanley serves as a Senior Mediator of the Singapore Mediation Centre and as a Specialist Mediator in the Singapore International Mediation Centre. He is an Administrative Panellist at the Asian Domain Name Dispute Resolution Centre, a member of the Market Surveillance and Compliance Panel (National Electricity Market of Singapore) and is currently the Commissioner of the Government Procurement Adjudication Tribunal.
After graduating from the University of Leicester with an LL.B. (Hons) degree in 1992, Stanley was called to the Bar of England and Wales, Lincoln's Inn in 1993 and obtained an LL.M. from the University of Cambridge in 1994. He was called to the Singapore Bar in 1995 before commencing his Ph.D. research in the field of technology law and computer software copyright to become the first Singapore-born lawyer to be conferred a Ph.D. in Law from the University of Cambridge. In January 2010, Stanley was appointed Senior Counsel. He was awarded the Public Service Medal (Pingat Bakti Masyarakat) at the Singapore National Day Awards 2020. |

Rajesh serves on the AI Tech committee of the Singapore Standards Council and on the Board of Experts of the Singapore Management University Centre for AI and Data Governance (CAIDG) and the National University of Singapore Centre for Technology, Robotics, Artificial Intelligence & the Law (TRAIL). On the corporate front, he sits on the Board of MediaCorp, Singapore’s national broadcaster.
Internationally, he sits on the Advisory Board of the Centre for Legal Innovation, College of Law, Australia, the Advisory Board of the Future Privacy Forum (FPF), Washington, DC and is the Vice-Chairman of the Media Law Committee of the International Bar Association. Assistant Professor Nydia Remolina
Nydia Remolina is an Assistant Professor of Law at Singapore Management University where she leads the research group on FinTech at the Centre for AI and Data Governance. Nydia focuses her research on the intersection of law, finance and technology. She has more than 10 years of experience in the financial sector, has been a Senior Advisor to the OECD. and she worked at Sullivan & Cromwell’s New York Office.
Nydia has a Master in the Science of Law (JSM) from Stanford University, and is completing her PhD in Law at the University of Zurich. Nydia’s research has been published in internationally recognised peer review journals, cited in media outlets such as Forbes, and featured on the Harvard Law School Forum on Corporate Governance, the Columbia Law School Blue Sky Blog, the Oxford Business Law Blog, and the Machine Lawyering Blog of the Chinese University of Hong-Kong. |

Mr Michael Tan
Michael Tan leads the APAC Cloud legal team and is part of Google’s APAC Legal Management team. Before his current role he also led Google’s commercial legal team for SEA and South Asia. During his time at Google, he’s worked on some of Google’s most complex and important commercial deals across the breadth of Google’s products, including Advertising, Android, Payments, Search, Maps and Enterprise. Mike has over 20 years of legal experience, and has been working in the Tech industry for the majority of that time. Before joining Google in 2008, he was with Yahoo!, which he joined in 2006 after cutting his teeth in legal roles covering both in house and private practice. Mike was a Member of the Legal Technology Cluster of the Singapore Academy of Law where he contributed to the “Singapore Technology Masterplan 2017”, and has spoken on a wide range of topics including from Cloud Computing, Payment systems, and AI regulation. |

Mr Lim Chong Kin
Lim Chong Kin is the Managing Director of Drew & Napier’s Corporate & Finance Department and heads the Telecommunications, Media and Technology (TMT) Practice. He also co-heads the Data Protection, Privacy & Cybersecurity Practice, and the Competition Law & Regulatory Practice. Chong Kin practises corporate and commercial law with strong emphasis in the areas of TMT, regulatory and competition law. He is also a pioneer in the practice of data protection & cybersecurity laws, where he set up the practice group and was responsible for growing it to become a market leading practice.
Since 1999, he has played a key role in the liberalisation of various strategic industries in Singapore, including the telecommunications, media, and postal markets. He assisted in the development of the licensing/regulatory frameworks and drafting of the sectoral competition laws for these sectors, and continues to routinely advise various sectoral regulators on liberalisation, market access, licensing, competition regulation, merger reviews and enforcement issues, including successfully defending the regulators in Ministerial appeals.

Mr Ken Chia
Ken Chia is a member of the Firm's IPTech, Global Trade & Commerce and Competition Practice Groups. He is regularly ranked as a leading ITC and competition lawyer by top legal directories. Ken is a regular speaker on data protection laws and is an IAPP Certified International Privacy Professional (FIP, CIPP(A), CIPT, CIPM). Mr Justin Blaze George
Justin is currently the Head of Data Protection Office at the Bank of Singapore. He was APAC Head of Cyber Security and Privacy Legal at a large insurance MNC covering 17 countries. He also previously served a similar role with one of the largest wealth management firms and has served as Deputy Chief Counsel at the Personal Data Protection Commission (PDPC). Prior to specialising in cybersecurity and data protection legal advice, Justin was in private practice specialising in Intellectual Property Law, including representing clients in patent and copyright litigation and providing legal advice in these areas. |

Mr Joey Pang
Joey is Chief Operating Officer and Technology Lawyer with DBS Bank. In his day to day work, Joey spends his time between three broad areas vis., (a) legal and compliance advisory on the bank’s technology, procurement, and anti-money laundering initiatives, (b) advocacy efforts on regulatory issues relating to emergent technology such as data innovation, data ethics and AI governance, and (c) transformation projects within the bank that brings about new capabilities and ways of working for legal and compliance functions.
Beyond his work at DBS, Joey is actively involved in a number of professional committees, bodies and engagement. He is the deputy chair for the AI Ethics and Governance Certification Committee convened by the Singapore Computer Society and IMDA, vice-chair of the Cybersecurity and Data Protection Committee and a member of the Continuing Professional Development and Information Technology committees of the Law Society of Singapore.
Joey also serves on the management committee of AsiaDPO, and is appointed to the Expert Panel of SMU’s Centre for AI and Data Governance. |

Ms Gladys Chun Gladys is General Counsel at Doctor Anywhere.
In her previous role as General Counsel of Lazada Group, Gladys Chun led the Legal and Compliance department, and was responsible for all such matters across the countries in which Lazada Group has a local presence. Gladys started her career in the corporate, commercial and tax practice at Baker McKenzie before moving in-house into retail, franchising and now technology. Mr David Alfred
David N. Alfred is Director and Co-head of the Data Protection, Privacy & Cybersecurity practice at Drew & Napier. He is concurrently Co-head and Programme Director of the Drew Data Protection & Cybersecurity Academy. David has advised extensively on data protection and cybersecurity matters including policy and legislative affairs, development and implementation of management and compliance programmes, cross-border data transfers and data breaches (amongst others). David has also developed and delivered training programmes for organisations in various sectors. David was previously Chief Counsel to Singapore’s Personal Data Protection Commission. David also actively supports the development of data protection law and practice. He is Adjunct Associate Professor with the National University of Singapore (NUS), Faculty of Law, where he teaches Global Data Privacy Law. He is also Co Vice-Chairperson of the Cybersecurity and Data Protection Committee of the Law Society of Singapore, a member of the Asia Advisory Board of the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP) and an exco member of SGTech’s Digital Trust Committee. David holds LLB and LLM degrees from NUS, an MBA from the University of Chicago and the WSQ Advanced Certificate in Learning and Performance.
