There has been some significant developments in the discovery process. In this second Criminal Justice Forum by the Singapore Academy of Law, Justice Aedit Abdullah will deliver a keynote address on:
• The shift in disclosure obligations by the Prosecution in the past decade in the light of judicial pronouncements in Muhammad bin Kadar & Anor v PP [2011] SGCA 44 and Muhammad Nabil bin Mohd Fuad [2020] 1SLR 984.
• What do the Courts expect out of discovery obligations?
• The Court’s perception when evidence has been disclosed to the Defence but which the Defence does not use eventually.
• The Court’s perception of a delay in the disclosure of evidence by the Prosecution.Miss Diana Ngiam will moderate the discussion featuring panellists from the Attorney-General’s Chambers, Deputy Chief Prosecutor Jiang Ke-Yue and from the defence bar Mr Ramesh Tiwary and Mr Johannes Hadi.

Family Therapeutic Justice Certification Programme
Date/ Time: 8 – 9 April 2024, 9am – 5.30pm
Venue: SAL, Stamford 1 & 2, The Adelphi #08-08, 1 Coleman Street (S179803)
This 2-day course comprises 3 modules of in-person learning to arm the family lawyer with competencies to support their clients and stakeholders to achieve therapeutic justice. The course is developed by the Singapore Academy of Law in conjunction with the Singapore University of Social Sciences, and is supported by a working group comprising Judicial Officers of the Family Justice Courts and senior family lawyers.
