    The Singapore Academy of Law (‘’SAL”), in collaboration with the Singapore International Commercial Court (“SICC”), is organising the Singapore International Commercial Court Conference 2025 (“SICCC”) on 14 and 15 January 2025 at the ParkRoyal Collection Marina Bay Singapore. The SICCC marks a special and significant milestone in commemoration of the 10th anniversary of the SICC since its establishment.

    The theme of the SICCC is “Transnational Commerce in a Shifting World” and will consider issues relevant to the transnational system of commercial justice within today’s globalised world, highlighting the pivotal role of international commercial courts as neutral arbiters and enablers of change. There will be several panels with a distinguished line up of speakers exploring diverse topics, including evolving trends in managing complex cross-border disputes, innovative approaches to resolving private law issues in borderless disputes and alongside cutting-edge emerging technologies, as well as holistic perspectives on cross-border corporate restructuring in the commercial dispute resolution space.

  3. Drafting Clearer Contracts

    Conducted by internationally renowned contract drafting expert, Ken Adams will take participants through the drafting process and share essential techniques of drafting deal terms effectively.

     

    By the end of the course, participants will be able to employ best practices and effective drafting principles to draft contracts clearly and concisely. They will also be able to apply the appropriate and accurate contract language for various provisions found in contracts to avoid ambiguity and uncertainty in contract language. 

     

    This masterclass is invaluable for legal professionals across all levels of seniority, with tips that apply to all contracts drafted in English, whatever the governing law.

     

    Participants will receive a copy of Ken’s publication A Manual of Style for Contract Drafting (5th Edition, ABA Publishing) as part of the course fee. As the books will be shipped from overseas, please register and pay for the course by 31 January 2025 to receive your copy before the course start date. Participants will be required to pick up their copy from the SAL office at The Adelphi, 1 Coleman Street, #08-08. For registrations received from 1 February 2025 onwards, the books will be ready for collection 4 weeks after the end of the course.
