Patrick T. Gibbons

 

Patrick is the Jefferson Smurfit Professor of Strategic Management at University College Dublin (UCD). He has held senior positions at the University-including Vice-President, member of the Governing Authority, Associate Dean-UCD Business School and most recently, Academic Director of Executive Developmant at the School. He also holds visiting positions at Nanyang Business School in Singapore, Corvinus University, Hungary and the University at Albany, New York, USA. He previously held visiting positions at IMD, the European School of Management and Technology (ESMT) in Berlin; the Antwerp School of Management and at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology.. He graduated with a Ph.D. in Strategy from the University of Pittsburgh and earned his undergaraduate and master’s qualifications at UCD.

 

His research and consulting interests include: top management team processes; strategy development processes; leadership development and strategy implementation issues. Prior to entering academia he held a number of financial and strategy positions at KPMG; The Investment Bank of Ireland; Jefferson Smurfit Group and An Post.

Ng Jern-Fei KC specialises in commercial litigation and arbitration, with 20+ years' experience appearing before courts and tribunals and sitting as arbitrator in different jurisdictions. He has acted as counsel in some 350 cases and as arbitrator in some 30 cases (as presiding, sole and co-arbitrator).

 

Jern-Fei has been described as a “legal hotshot” by Singapore's Straits Times and as a “top lawyer” in an article published in the South China Morning Post. Jern-Fei acts for a number of Asian governments and for many of China’s State-owned enterprises and Malaysia’s government-linked corporations in arbitrations across different jurisdictions.

 

Jern-Fei was awarded the Singapore Academy of Law’s Merit Award by the Honourable Chief Justice of Singapore and was appointed by the Chief Justice of Singapore to sit on the Ethics and Professional Standards Committee. He is described in the legal directories as “an absolute superstar of the Bar”, “simply the best”, “one of the biggest names for Asia-related arbitration” and an “absolutely brilliant advocate!” He is “a very talented silk” who has an ability to “present practical legal solutions that not only win you the battles, but also the war.”

For this activity, participants are reminded to sign in on arrival and sign out at the conclusion of each day of the event in the manner required by the organiser. Participants must not be absent from each day of the event for more than 15 minutes. Participants may obtain Public CPD Points for each day of the event on which they comply strictly with the Attendance Policy. Participants who do not comply with the Attendance Policy on any particular day of the event will not be able to obtain CPD Points for that day.
