This 2-day legal innovation course is designed to:
- Provide an analytical excursion of the state of legal innovation in Singapore and the region as well as best practices in legal innovation.
- Explore legal innovation methodology, including legal design thinking, legal process re-engineering, legal digital transformation, and legal generative artificial intelligence (Legal GenAI)
- Share case studies of law firms and legal departments in Singapore and other jurisdictions that have adopted innovation practices to solve efficiency problems, client experience, as well as using technology
- Explore the state of legal technology (Legal Tech), uncovering the capabilities and limitations of the underlying technologies as well as showcasing examples in legal workflows
- Ensure an interactive experience for the young lawyers where participants will also learn to apply the principles in creating process maps to visualise legal workflows and understand how Legal Tech and Legal GenAI could be applied in practice
- Understand the professional and ethical considerations in legal practice in the context of legal innovation, Legal Tech, and Legal GenAI

Eric Chin Director, NewLaw Eric specialises in innovation, strategy and technology consulting in the legal industry, working with legal departments and law firms in the APAC region. He is also engaged in building grassroots LegalTech and legal innovation movement through the formation of ASEAN LegalTech Association and Legal Hackers Melbourne. He has worked the Law Society of Singapore to develop and launch Raising The Bar, a business transformation programme for Singapore Law firms, between 2021, 2022 and 2023. Eric has also led legal innovation strategy engagements for law firms, business process re-engineering for government legal, and legal operations transformation for legal departments across the APAC region. |

Rodney Yap Manager, NewLaw Rodney has over 5 years of experience in implementing legal technology, consulting, legal operations and workflow redesign. Rodney is also a qualified solicitor and advocate of the Singapore Bar and has spent time as a contentious IP lawyer. Additionally, Rodney also holds the WSQ Advanced Certificate in Learning and Performance 2.0. He has worked on legal department operating models for a Singaporean government legal department and led implementation of internal transformation projects for law firms in Singapore. Rodney is the winner of the SAL-Microsoft 2024 Prompt Engineering Competition. |
