Mediation
The SAL Annual Review of 2024 Cases on Family Law will feature presentations by authors Ms Tricia Ho (Singapore University of Social Sciences) and Mr Aaron Yoong (Singapore Management University), examining key legal cases on child welfare and matrimonial asset division. Discussions will cover significant rulings, including WKM v WKN [2024] SGCA 1 on child welfare reports, DDN v DDO [2024] SGHC(A) 2 on access order variations, DBA v DBB [2024] SGHC(A) 12 on asset division in different marriage types, and WQP v WQQ [2024] SGHC(A) 34 on asset commingling.
A panel discussion moderated by Ms Tricia Ho will follow, featuring legal experts, District Judge Yarni Loi, Mr Yap Teong Liang and Ms Angelina Hing. The discussion will also explore Therapeutic Justice elements, focusing on holistic and rehabilitative approaches in family law.
The SAL Annual Review of 2024 Cases on Mediation and Appropriate Dispute Resolution will feature presentations by authors Dr Chong Shou Yu (Singapore Management University) and Ms Sarah Lim Hui Feng (Singapore International Dispute Resolution Academy), focusing on key legal developments in mediation and appropriate dispute resolution. Cases that will be covered include Maxx Engineering Works v PQ Builders [2024] 3 SLR 715 CZQ v CZS [2024] 3 SLR 111, Ho Chee Kian v Ho Kwek Sin [2024] 3 SLR 888, Lim Suk Ling Priscilla v Amber Compounding Pharmacy [2024] SGCA 16 and VeriFone Inc v Firemane Pte Ltd [2024] SGHC 264.
These cases provide critical insights into the application of mediation, contract law, and corporate disputes, illustrating how evolving judicial approaches are shaping the dispute resolution landscape in Singapore.
