[IN-PERSON] Best Practices in Court - from the Bench's Perspective

It is the aim of an advocate to persuade the Court to subscribe to the cause pleaded before the Court. To do this, one must be a good and effective advocate who delivers what is expected by the Court, and to unceasingly improve on the craft.

Hear from keynote speaker Justice Mavis Chionh as her Honour shares the best practices in Court as seen and observed from the bench’s perspective. The keynote will include the ‘dos’ and don’ts’ of court advocacy covering both at trial and at a plea-of-guilt hearing. In addition, get a better understanding of the qualities in a good, persuasive advocate that the Bench looks out.

Justice Chionh will also be joined by practitioners Mr Sunil Sudheesan and Assoc. Prof Mervyn Cheong together with Deputy Public Prosecutor Ng Yiwen for a panel discussion.
