Integrating ESG into Corporate Governance and Compliance

The course aims to equip inhouse counsel and private practitioners with an understanding of the key concepts and issues relating to sustainability and ESG and how to incorporate such concepts into corporate policies and strategies, ensuring they are equipped to advise organisations on best practices and compliance with relevant regulations.
At the end of the course, participants will be able to evaluate and analyse client circumstances and legal situations to provide commercially practicable legal advice aligned with ESG principles and strategies to protect and promote client’s interests, specifically for corporate governance structures.
Participants can expect to undertake practical drafting lessons on how to review and revise sample corporate policies to include sustainability principles and sustainability clauses for corporate governance and strategy.

Written Assessment
Participants (self- or company-sponsored) who apply for Singapore SkillsFuture (SSG) Funding are required to complete an open-book assessment at the end of the course. Those who do not pass the assessment will be liable to pay SAL the amount of SSG Funding received.

All Singaporeans aged 25 and above can utilise their SkillsFuture Credit from the government to cover a wide range of approved skills-related courses. You can explore available courses on the MySkillsFuture website.

As an Approved Training Organisation (ATO), this training programme is subsidised by SkillsFuture Singapore (SSG). Course Fee Funding and Training Allowance / Absentee Payroll are available to self /company funded individuals.

Wong Hsu-sheng
Wong Hsu-sheng is a seasoned professional with over two decades of experience in sustainability, ESG education, finance, and law.
As an Affiliate Faculty Member at SMU Academy and a Founding Faculty Member at the Institute of Corporate Directors Malaysia (ICDM), Hsu-sheng develops and delivers cutting-edge courses on sustainability and ESG principles for adult learners and corporate leaders. He also serves as an Advisor at TrueVA Capital, where he focuses on sustainability learning content.
Previously, Hsu-sheng was Chief Operations Officer at GoImpact Capital Partners, where he managed operations, developed partnerships, and spearheaded ESG-focused curriculum design. He is well-regarded for his expertise in carbon management, ESG reporting, and sustainable finance, having delivered high-impact educational content for institutions like SMU Academy, Temasek Polytechnic, and the Chinese University of Hong Kong. He was also a Senior Fellow (Sustainability) with the Singapore Institute of International Affairs, a leading regional think tank.
Before transitioning to sustainability, Hsu-sheng built a distinguished career in finance and law, holding leadership roles at major institutions like The Saudi National Bank, OCBC, and Daiwa Capital Markets. His legal background includes tenure as a solicitor with Clifford Chance LLP, handling high-profile derivatives and structured finance transactions.
A passionate advocate for sustainable development, Hsu-sheng regularly speaks at industry events, sharing insights on green finance, biodiversity risks, and corporate governance. He holds numerous certifications in green finance and sustainability from globally recognized institutions, including Yale School of Management and the Chartered Banker Institute. Hsu-sheng is a Solicitor of England and Wales, an Advocate and Solicitor of Singapore, and an alumnus of the University of Cambridge. |
