Join us for four Annual Review sessions covering the latest developments in family law, mediation, criminal procedure, evidence, sentencing, and tort law.

Session Schedule:

This 26-hour course, led by SAL’s Senior Accredited Specialists in Maritime and Shipping Law, covers a wide range of topics from ship sale and purchase to international sale of goods and finance to admiralty law and claims. This is not a basic course and is open to all lawyers, in-house counsel and non-lawyers who have some knowledge of this area of law, e.g. a degree or graduate diploma in maritime studies, and wish to have a better grasp of this practice area.

To mark the 15th anniversary of the enactment of the Singapore Mental Capacity Act (MCA), this seminar will delve into the legal framework designed to protect individuals aged 21 and above who lack the mental capacity to make decisions independently.

The four authors aim to provide a clear and practical understanding of the Act’s provisions and its evolving role in an ageing and more inclusive society. Join us for an insightful seminar where the author of the book will share insights and suggestions as well as provide a comprehensive overview of the theory, substantive principles, key judicial decisions, and procedural rules as applied by the Family Justice Courts.

This will be followed by a panel discussion examining how Singapore’s family law addresses the rights and responsibilities of individuals within a marital relationship.

PROTECTING THOSE WHO CANNOT PROTECT THEMSELVES: INSIGHTS INTO THE MENTAL CAPACITY ACT (11.30am – 1.00pm)
The four authors will examine how the Act safeguards individuals who lack mental capacity and how it has evolved to meet the needs of an ageing and more inclusive society. This seminar also commemorates 15 years of this key legislation in Singapore.
