Globalisation and the economic shift to Asia has resulted in significant new opportunities for law firms and in-house counsel operating in this region. At the same time, partners in these law firms and corporate counsel are facing increased challenges including cost pressures, growing competition and talent retention issues. In this changing legal landscape, legal professionals must complement their technical legal expertise with strong leadership to manage these challenges and seize emerging growth opportunities.

The SAL-INSEAD Legal Leadership Programme is a two-day intensive management programme specifically designed and contextualised to address the needs of law firm partners, general counsel and legal service officers. Participants from the private sector should currently have P&L remit in their roles or will soon be assuming P&L responsibilities in their organisations.

This unique programme applies business school methodologies to address leadership challenges faced by legal professionals including improving organisational alignment, managing growth and change, motivating people and teams for high performance, and communicating effectively.

This 2-day course comprises 3 modules of in-person learning to arm the family lawyer with competencies to support their clients and stakeholders to achieve therapeutic justice. The course is developed by the Singapore Academy of Law in conjunction with the Singapore University of Social Sciences, and is supported by a working group comprising Judicial Officers of the Family Justice Courts and senior family lawyers.

The course aims to equip inhouse counsel and private practitioners with an understanding of the key concepts and issues relating to sustainability and ESG and how to incorporate such concepts into corporate policies and strategies, ensuring they are equipped to advise organisations on best practices and compliance with relevant regulations.

At the end of the course, participants will be able to evaluate and analyse client circumstances and legal situations to provide commercially practicable legal advice aligned with ESG principles and strategies to protect and promote client’s interests, specifically for corporate governance structures.

Participants can expect to undertake practical drafting lessons on how to review and revise sample corporate policies to include sustainability principles and sustainability clauses for corporate governance and strategy.

Community Law in Focus is a series of events seminars that offers audiences an insightful exploration of key areas in community law. The series opens with Academy Publishing’s newest publication, The Mental Capacity Act in Singapore: Law and Practice by Dr Colin Tan (NUS), Mr Chong Yue-En (Bethel Chambers), Mr Allen Sng Kiat Peng (NUS), and Mr Tan Kah Wai (LVM Law Chambers).

To mark the 15th anniversary of the enactment of the Singapore Mental Capacity Act (MCA), this seminar will delve into the legal framework designed to protect individuals aged 21 and above who lack the mental capacity to make decisions independently.

The four authors aim to provide a clear and practical understanding of the Act’s provisions and its evolving role in an ageing and more inclusive society. Community Law in Focus is a series of events seminars that offer audiences an insightful exploration of key areas in community law. The series opens with Academy Publishing’s newest publication, Marriage, Spouses and Assets by Professor Leong Wai Kum (SUSS).

Join us for an insightful seminar where the author of the book will share insights and suggestions as well as provide a comprehensive overview of the theory, substantive principles, key judicial decisions, and procedural rules as applied by the Family Justice Courts.

This will be followed by a panel discussion examining how Singapore’s family law addresses the rights and responsibilities of individuals within a marital relationship.

Participants will gain insights into how the law governs the distribution of assets, the protection of spousal interests, and the resolution of disputes. The seminar also highlights how the law aims to support the goal of nurturing loving and durable familial relationships.
